14.    WRITTEN MOTION, Council President Gomes, requesting, that the New Bedford City Council go on record in support of Governor  Baker’s proposed legislation aimed at controlling the Opioid epidemic and abuse; and further, that the City Council send a letter to our State Delegation and Senate President Stan Rosenburg supporting the Governor’s initiative and legislation which includes a provision that would allow Medical Professionals to commit a person to a drug treatment facility for up to 72 hours if they pose a danger to themselves or others, along with a three-day restricted prescription for first-time users of this pain relief medicine.
