12. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Abreu, Winterson, Martins, Carney, Gomes, Rebeiro and Bousquet, requesting, that the New Bedford City Council send a formal letter to Massachusetts Transportation Secretary, Stephanie Pollack, Governor Charlie Baker, and members of both our State and Federal Delegations, fully supporting the Middleboro "SouthCoast Rail" route as a legitimate alternative to the once Stoughton proposal, which is projected to cost Massachusetts taxpayers $3.4 billion dollars and wouldn't see an anticipated completion date until 2030, the Middleboro extension is confirmed to be the most cost-effective method to bringing commuter rail here to our community. (To be Referred to Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack, Governor Charlie Baker, and members of both our State and Federal Delegations.)
