L1.     CITATIONS, Council President Gomes and Councillor Martins, honoring SGT. VICTOR MENDES, New Bedford Police Department and AMANDA MENDES, in recognition of their generosity and Holiday spirit in taking a City mother and her two special needs children on a Christmas shopping spree.
L2.       WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Rebeiro, Lopes, Council President Gomes, Councillors Morad and Oliveira, requesting that the Committee on Ordinance, draft an Ordinance that the City place an immediate ban on the use of medians for panhandling in the interest of public safety, medians are ADA compliant as dividers only, most are only 4 feet, making loitering dangerous, whereas sidewalks are ADA compliant to travel and rest on and are 6 feet or more, any individual or organization should utilize sidewalks for fundraising.

L3.       WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Rebeiro, requesting, that the City Council approve Adoption of a Home Rule Petition – AN ACT authorizing the City of New Bedford to issue an additional license for the sale of all alcoholic beverages not to be drunk on the premises pursuant to Section 15, Chapter 138 of Massachusetts General Laws, to the establishment located at 801 Purchase Street, in the City of New Bedford, known as Crush Beverage Company, Inc., the licensing authority shall not approve the transfer of the license to any other locations; and further, that this matter also be referred to Representative Cabral for processing.

 

L3a.     AN ACT,

L4.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Martins, Lopes, Rebeiro, Oliveira, Coelho, Alves, Bousquet, Carney, Council President Gomes and Councillor Winterson, requesting, that the Special Committee on Memorials and Dedications explore the possibility of naming an appropriate memorial in honor of the late David A. Provencher, Chief of Police, to pay tribute to his thirty-five years of service on the New Bedford Police Department and to his fellow Citizens. (To be Referred to the Special Committee on Memorials and Dedications.)

L5.       REPORT, Committee on Ordinances, recommending that City Council take “NO FURTHER ACTION” on the Written Motion by Councillor Alves, requesting that the lot on Oakdale Street, identified on Assessor’s Map 74, Lot 95 be rezoned from RESIDENCE A to RESIDENCE B, as Councillor Alves WITHDREW his motion.

L6.       REPORT, Committee on Appointments and Briefings, recommending to the City Council APPROVAL on behalf of Jenny Mesia d/b/a JENNY’S TRANSPORTATION, 88 Sagamore Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, hereby submit a copy of the Application requesting a NEW Private Livery License, under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 159A, Section1 and amendments thereto, and M.G.L. Chapter 270, Section 22(Smoke Free Workplace Law) and all other laws applicable to such operation, to carry passengers for hire over the streets of New Bedford.

 

L6a.     COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, to City Council, on behalf of Jenny Mesia d/b/a JENNY’S TRANSPORTATION, 88 Sagamore Street, New Bedford, MA 02740 hereby submit a copy of the Application requesting a NEW Private Livery License, under the provisions of M.G.L.
