L1.       COMMUNICATION, Mayor Mitchell, to City Council, submitting AN ORDER that land shown on Plan of Land entitled, “Paul Walsh Field, Hunter St. New Bedford, MA 02740” dated March 31, 2016 and as described on Attachment “A” hereto be accepted from the School Committee and conveyed to the Department of Facilities and Fleet Management for the purpose of licensing the property to the New Bedford Baysox LLC on which the sale of beer and wine may be permitted, in accordance with conditions established by the Licensing Board and such other reasonable conditions as may be necessary or appropriate.

L2.       COMMUNICATION, Licensing Board, to City Council, advising that the Board voted in the majority at its April meeting to approve the Bay Sox alcohol control policy and site plan specifications for the sale of beer and wine at this year’s home games.

L3.       COMMUNICATION, Rick Kidder, President & CEO of the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, to City Council, submitting a letter supporting the New Bedford Bay Sox’ request for alcohol sales service at all home games played at Walsh Field. (Copy all Councillors via email 04/27/2016.)

L4.       COMMUNICATION, Peter J. Muise, President & CEO of First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union, to City Council, submitting a letter in support of Pat O’Conner’s request for beer and wine to be sold during the Bay Sox’s home games at Paul Walsh Field. (Copy all Councillors via email 04/27/2016.)

L5.     COMMUNICATION/ DEMOLITION, New Bedford Historical Commission, to City Council, re: BUILDING DEMOLITION REVIEW OF 241-243 MILL STREET, (MAP 57, LOT 142) Circa 1895 one story, wood framed, barn structure – advising that “the structure is not located in a National Register Historic District; the structure is of no notable historic significance either recorded or found with the existing condition of the structure; the structure is in poor condition due to extensive deferred maintenance, and the restoration or preservation efforts would be impractical due to the existing condition of the structure, “the New Bedford Historical Commission has determined that the structure at 241-243 Mill Street is NOT a Historically Significant building or structure and not Preferably Preserved.”
L6.     COMMUNICATION/DEMOLITION, New Bedford Historical Commission, to City Council, re: BUILDING DEMOLITION REVIEW OF 80-82 NORTH STREET, (MAP 58, LOT 340) Circa 1925 one story, brick masonry and wood framed, garage structure – advising that “the structure is located in the North Bedford National Register Historic District; the structure is of no notable historic significance either recorded or found with the existing condition of the structure; the structure is in poor condition due to extensive deferred maintenance, and the restoration or preservation efforts would be impractical due to the existing condition of the structure, “the New Bedford Historical Commission has determined that the structure at 80-82 North Street is NOT a Historically Significant building or structure and not Preferably Preserved.”
L7.     COMMUNICATION/DEMOLITION, New Bedford Historical Commission, to City Council, re: BUILDING DEMOLITION REVIEW OF 1225 OLD PLAINVILLE ROAD, (MAP 124, LOT 16) Circa 1875 two story, wood framed, residential structure – advising that “the structure is not located in a National Register Historic District; the structure is of no notable historic significance either recorded or found with the existing condition of the structure; the structure is in poor condition due to extensive deferred maintenance, and the restoration or preservation efforts would be impractical due to the existing condition of the structure, “the New Bedford Historical Commission has determined that the structure at 1225 Old Plainville Road is NOT a Historically Significant building or structure and not Preferably Preserved.”
L8.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Carney, requesting, that the following street(s) be CLOSED: RUSSELL STREET, between Purchase Street and Acushnet Avenue AND MANNY COSTA WAY, between Acushnet Avenue and South Second Street, ON SATURDAY, MAY 07, 2016, FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M., for the purpose of the NEIGHBORHOOD FUN DAY.
