6.     REPORT, Committee on Labor and Industry, recommending that the City Council provide a letter of support to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health expressing its support of the efforts of the Beacon Compassion Center, Inc. to seek an appropriate location for and operate a Registered Medical Marijuana Dispensary in the City of New Bedford
7.     REPORT, Committee on Appointments and Briefings, recommending that the City waive all costs/fees for all non-profit organizations holding events throughout the City of New Bedford that contribute to drawing a tourism base for the City and its people; and further, that the Committee on Appointments and Briefings look to create a mechanism that allows the City Council to review event fees/charges before the organizations are billed so that the City Council becomes the controlling entity in granting the waiver of fees as opposed to the Mayor; and further, that a list of local non-profit organizations be developed by the appropriate departments and forwarded to the City Council.

8.     AN ORDINANCE, amending Chapter 2, Article IX, Section 2-131 - RELATIVE TO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION - PURPOSE. (Passed to a Second Reading 06/23/2016.)

9.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Carney, Abreu, Gomes, Winterson, Coelho, Bousquet, Rebeiro and Oliveira, requesting, that the City Council send a letter to Governor Baker, along with our State and Federal Delegations in opposition of our boat owners paying $700.00 a day for the at-sea fishing monitor, which was previously paid by NOAA, said new fee was put into place on March 01, 2016, by the United States Department of Commerce, this will have a devastating effect on New Bedford’s fishing industry, which is a major part of the economy in New Bedford and all of New England.

10.       WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Lopes, requesting, that the City of New Bedford establish a minimum wage for employees of all Applicants/Businesses that receive a TIF or STA from the City; and further, that said minimum wage will be set for 10% above the State’s requirements.  (To be Referred to the Mayor, Economic Development Council and the Committee on Finance.)

11.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Lopes and Martins, requesting, that the Chief of Police deny any Application for a License to Carry if said Applicant is on the Government’s “No Fly List.” (To be Referred to the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods and Police Chief Cordeiro.)
12.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Abreu, Winterson, Martins, Carney, Gomes, Rebeiro and Bousquet, requesting, that the New Bedford City Council send a formal letter to Massachusetts Transportation Secretary, Stephanie Pollack, Governor Charlie Baker, and members of both our State and Federal Delegations, fully supporting the Middleboro "SouthCoast Rail" route as a legitimate alternative to the once Stoughton proposal, which is projected to cost Massachusetts taxpayers $3.4 billion dollars and wouldn't see an anticipated completion date until 2030, the Middleboro extension is confirmed to be the most cost-effective method to bringing commuter rail here to our community. (To be Referred to Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack, Governor Charlie Baker, and members of both our State and Federal Delegations.)
13.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Coelho, requesting, that the Department of Parks, Recreation and Beaches look into the playground at Clasky Common Park, which is not mulched and needs attention; and further, requesting that an evaluation be done to see what improvements can be made to the park. (To be Referred to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Beaches.) 
14.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Coelho, in consideration of the Summer season and the increase of litter on the streets Citywide, requesting, that the Committee on Appointments and Briefings review the matter of litter, including an informational campaign, possibly posting signs in both English and Spanish as a reminder to people of the importance of picking up after themselves; and further, using these signs to enforce the current litter Ordinance; and further, that we look into obtaining funds from the State to assist us in this anti-litter initiative. 15.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Lopes, requesting, that the City establish a permitting application for the private delivery of Port-A-Johns onto City parks and recreational property.  (To be Referred to the Board of Parks Commissioners, Mary Rapoza, Director of Parks, Recreation and Beaches and the Committee on Appointments and Briefings.)

16.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the City Council go on record in support of AN ACT relative to hate crimes against Police Officers and that letters of support be sent to the House of Representative’s Leadership along with the bill submitters, State Representatives Alan Silvia and Michelle DuBois, said bill pertains to hate crimes against Police Officers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and further, requesting that Rule 40 be Waived.

17.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods, meet with Animal Control Director Maciel, for the purpose of discussing, once more, the coverage of animal control in the City; and further, that Animal Control consider an on-call Animal Control Officer for nights and weekends due to the increasing amount of calls pertaining to dog issues and other animal related issues in the City. 

18.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the Committee on Ordinances look at the Providence, Rhode Island trash and bulky items dumping Ordinance, and discuss if there are parts of the law that can be implemented in the City, along with considering a mattress recycling program, which is one of the biggest bulky items dumped along City streets. 19.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the City Council go on record against the Massachusetts Insurance Companies request for a proposed 9% increase on Car Insurance Policies in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; and further, that letters be sent to our State Delegation, the House and Senate leadership and the Massachusetts Insurance Commission of our opposition to this increase due to the fact that Insurance Companies had already implemented a increase in the beginning of this year; and further, requesting, that Rule 40 be Waived.
