3.     REPORT, Committee on Ordinances, recommending to the City Council ADOPTION of the ORDER, that the City Council Rules of Order Rule 1, in the second paragraph be amended to read: Additional regular meetings shall be held on the third Thursday of July, on the third Thursday of August and on the second Thursday in December in each year. 5.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Rebeiro, requesting, on behalf of The Santa Sightings 5K Fun Run/Geoffrey Smith, that the following street(s) be CLOSED: Starting at the junction of Union Street and Macarthur Drive, proceed on Macarthur Drive to Conway Street and take a left, then right onto Hassey Street, a right at Wright Street and left back onto Macarthur Drive, proceed to South Front Street and take left onto South Front Street, proceed on South Front Street to Cove  Street, take a right to the Traffic light at intersection of John F. 6.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Rebeiro, requesting, on behalf of Downtown New Bedford Inc., that the following street(s) be CLOSED: PLEASANT STREET, from Union Street to Elm Street; MARKET STREET, from North Sixth Street to Pleasant Street; WILLIAM STREET, from North Sixth Street to Water Street and WATER STREET, from Union Street to Elm Street, ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 05, 2015, FROM 4:00 P.M. TO 6:00 P.M., for the purpose of The Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting.

7.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Winterson and Carney, on behalf of the Seniors and Residents that utilize the Buttonwood Senior Center, requesting that Mary Rapoza, Director of Parks, Recreation and Beaches install additional lighting on the east side of the parking lot.

8.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Winterson and Carney, requesting, that lighting be installed at Buttonwood Park, starting at Hawthorn Street and Brownell Avenue to the Lt. Walter E. Fuller Memorial Parkway, due to the darkness at this location which is frequently used by joggers, walkers and pedestrians, not just in the evening, but during the early morning hours. (To be Referred to the Department of Public Infrastructure.)
9.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Coelho, Winterson, Martins, Carney and Lopes, requesting that Police Chief Provencher and Carl Alves, Executive Director of Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction (PAACA), meet with the Committee on Appointments and Briefings to discuss the drug overdoses happening everyday in our City; and further, that the Committee look into what other Cities and Towns are doing to combat this serious issue.
10.     WRITTEN MOTION,  Councillor Bousquet, requesting, on behalf of Mr. Helio Medeiros, that 170 Reynolds Street, New Bedford, Plot 91/Lot 45, be REZONED, from Residence “C” to MIXED-USE BUSINESS. (To be Referred to the Planning Board and the Committee on Ordinances.)

11.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Carney and Oliveira, requesting that DPI Commissioner Labelle install additional traffic/detour signage at the intersection of Tarkiln Hill Road and Ashley Boulevard, making the intersection safer to travel upon during the construction in said area. (To be Referred to DPI Commissioner Labelle.)

12.     WRITTEN MOTION, Council President Gomes, requesting that the Committee on Appointments and Briefings, meet with all Veteran agencies that are presently utilizing the Waldron Barracks to provide services to the Veterans of the Greater New Bedford area; and further, that all Veteran’s agencies provide the City Council’s Committee on Appointments and Briefings with paperwork detailing the assistance they provided to Veterans along with the name of the Commanding Officer for each agency of service, that provide Veterans services out of this location.

13.     WRITTEN MOTION, Council President Gomes, requesting, AGAIN that the New Bedford City Council go on record in support of ATI (Allegheny Technologies, Inc.) steelworkers of New Bedford and send a letter to the ATI Steelworkers President and CEO, urging them to bargain in good faith and respect the veteran workmanship, and get the steelworkers back to work; and further, that the City begin the process of recouping the thousands of dollars in Police detail and vehicle costs used during the details provided from day one in this steelworkers lockout; and further, that a letter be sent to Senators Warren and Markey asking for their assistance in getting these steelworkers back to work.

DaRosa, 56 Westwood Drive, North Dartmouth, MA 02747 d/b/a BLUEBIRD TRANSPORTATION, 1551 Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA 02740 hereby submit a copy of the Application requesting RENEWAL of a Private Livery License, under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 159A, Section 1 and amendments thereto, and M.G.L. Chapter 270, Section 22 (Smoke Free Workplace Law) and all other laws applicable to such operation, to carry passengers for hire over the streets of New Bedford. (Current License expired October 23, 2015.)

15.     COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, to City Council, on behalf of Tanya DePina d/b/a COMFORT TRANSPORTATION, LLC, 47 Lauren Drive, New Bedford, MA 02745 hereby submit a copy of the Application requesting RENEWAL of a Private Livery License, under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 159A, Section 1 and amendments thereto, and M.G.L. Chapter 270, Section 22 (Smoke Free Workplace Law) and all other laws applicable to such operation, to carry passengers for hire over the streets of New Bedford. (Current License expires November 14, 2015.)

16.     COMMUNICATION/DEMOLITION, New Bedford Historical Commission, to City Council, re: 45 NASH ROAD (Map 105/Lot 103) circa 1914 two-story wood framed structure: “the structure is not located in a National Register Historic District and the structure is of no notable historic significance either recorded or found with the existing condition of the structure” and therefore, “the NBHC has determined that the building is NOT a historically significant building or structure and not preferably preserved.”

17.     COMMUNICATION, Councillor Steven Martins, submitting a letter and accompanying documentation from Attorney Dana A. Sargent, relative to Eversource Energy’s proposal to  install two additional Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) storage tanks on Peckham Road in Acushnet, MA, which poses a danger to surrounding Cities and Towns.

18.     COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, Dennis W. Farias, submitting copy of a letter to Kenneth Blanchard, Commissioner, Department of Facilities and Fleet Management, thanking and commending the DFFM members for the assistance and support they provided to the City Council office during our recent Archival and Vault Reorganization Project.

19.     COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, submitting a communication from MassDOT notifying South Coast communities that the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is continuing the preliminary design and permitting phase of the South Coast Rail (SCR) project for the remainder of 2015 and through next year.  (Copy all Councillors via email 11/02/2015.)
