WRITTEN MOTION OFF ROAD VEHICLES

2. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Coelho, Abreu, Martins, Carney, Winterson, Lopes and Oliveira, requesting, that our State Legislative Delegation, Representatives Antonio F.D. Cabral, Robert M. Koczera, Christopher M. Markey, Paul A. Schmid, III, William M. Straus and State Senator Mark Montigny take immediate action by looking into crafting legislation to regulate all off road vehicles, including dirt bikes, quads, any off road vehicle and require that each vehicle be registered and be insured by the State, like any other motor vehicle; and further, that residents of New Bedford are suffering from these motorists who continuously and recklessly ride these off road vehicles throughout the City on sidewalks, causing a hazard by driving to endanger all Citizens with this unlawful operation of vehicles; and further, a New Bedford Police Sergeant was recently hospitalized in serious condition due to being struck by a dirt bike.
