3.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Martins, requesting, that letters be sent to our local and Senate Delegation, in support of past and current legislation giving Cities and Towns the authority to implement a Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption; and further, that our delegation work in support with Representative Jay Kaufman of Lexington, to file a bi-partisan bill that would grant New Bedford the authority to implement a senior citizen program like the towns of Wayland and Sudbury who already sought and received legislative approval to exempt certain parcels of land owned by senior citizens from property tax; furthermore, that the House Committee on Revenue currently hears the exemption process now, senior citizens are waiting years for a decision and said Committee often hears one case at time.
