REPORT - ONLINE POLICE REPORTING SYSTEM - NO FURTHER ACTION

Item Detail:

1.     REPORT, Committee on Public Safety & Neighborhoods, recommending to the City Council to take “NO FURTHER ACTION” on the WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Abreu, Council President Lopes, Councillors Dunn, Coelho and Winterson, requesting that the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods, Police Chief Cordeiro, and the Administration discuss the feasibility of implementing an online police reporting system for our residents and visitors to use as a means to report non-violent crimes, as such, the Cities of Providence and Cranston, Rhode Island have both launched this service this past year, and have claimed to have reduced officer response time by about 10 to 30 percent, and will provide online access to citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
