WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Pereira, Council President Abreu and Councillors Giesta and Lima, requesting that the Director of Emergency Management and Anthony Veilleux or a representative with Eversource Electric appear before the Committee on Appointments & Briefings to discuss the power outage issues that continuously occur in the southern portion of the South End peninsula. 8. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Markey, requesting Scot Servis, Airport Manager attend the next Special Committee on the Airport meeting to give the Committee a briefing on the Airport. (To be Referred to the Special Committee on the Airport.)

9. COMMUNICATION/DEMOLITION, New Bedford Historical Commission, to City Council, re: BUILDING DEMOLITION REVIEW: PARTIAL DEMOLITION - PORCH -135 COTTAGE STREET, (MAP 45/LOT 263) advising that “the property owner is proposing the demolition of the building’s wrap-around porch in its entirety and rebuilding a section of the porch; the Robert B. and Lucinda Hudson Gifford House (NBE.2358) was constructed in 1897, and is a contributing historic resource to the County Street National Register District; the property is historically or architecturally significant in terms of period style, method of building construction or association with a significant architect or builder either by itself or as a part of a group of buildings; the Commission has collaborated with the property owner to modify the initially proposed porch materials to mutually agreed upon high-quality materials to mitigate the adverse effect the porch demolition will have on the property and the District “in light of these findings, the New Bedford Historical Commission has determined that the structure at 135 Cottage Street is Historically Significant but is not a Preferably Preserved structure.”
10. COMMUNICATION, Councillor Dunn, to City Clerk Farias, submitting his resignation as Councillor of Ward Three, effective at midnight on December 3, 2022.

11. COMMUNICATION, City Clerk, requesting that the City Council ORDER the Election Commission to hold a PRELIMINARY ELECTION on TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2023 and a SPECIAL ELECTION on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2023, to fill the vacancy for the CITY COUNCILLOR of WARD THREE.

 

11a. CITY COUNCIL ORDER, ORDERED, that TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2023, be approved as the date for the Election Commission to hold a PRELIMINARY ELECTION and TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2023, be approved as the date for the Election Commission to hold a SPECIAL ELECTION, in the City of New Bedford, to fill the vacancy for the CITY COUNCILLOR of WARD THREE.
