1. RESOLUTION, Councillor Pereira, Council President Morad, Councillors Markey, Lima, Gomes, Giesta, Carney, Burgo, Baptiste and Abreu, honoring DONNA M. BRITTO, ASSISTANT CLERK OF COMMITTEES, on the occasion of her retirement after 32 years of service to the City of New Bedford and the City Council.

2. AN ORDINANCE, amending Chapter 24 of the Code of Ordinances, Relative to Taxi Rates. (Passed to a Second Reading – November 22, 2022.)

3. AN ORDINANCE, rezoning Plot 135, Lots 9, 46 and 11, the front portions (approximately 200’-299’) located on Braley Road, from Industrial C to MIXED USE BUSINESS. (Passed to a Second Reading – November 10, 2022.)

4. AN ORDINANCE, amending Chapter 9, Comprehensive Zoning, by striking “Wamsutta Mill Overlay District (WMOD)” and inserting the Hicks Logan District (HLD).  (Passed to Second Reading – November 10, 2022.)

5. AN ORDINANCE, amending Chapter 19, Personnel, Establishment of Unit C Classification and Salary Plan; Procedure for Advancement. (Passed to a Second Reading – December 6, 2022.)

6. WRITTEN MOTION Councillor Morad, that the City Council discharge the Committee on Appointments and Briefings and consider the following matter:   COMMUNICATION, Mayor Mitchell, to City Council, submitting the APPOINTMENT of JUVENAL ALVES NEVES, New Bedford, MA 02740 as a CONSTABLE.

7. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the Department of Public Infrastructure and the Traffic Commission immediately cover over the white lines on Cove Road between County and Crapo Streets; this stretch of road is a single merging lane, and presently the white lines that were painted over are coming through and causing motorists to think that it’s a two-lane traffic flow, which is causing a very dangerous situation on this stretch of road; and further requesting, that the Traffic Commission install signage that reads “Merging single lane of traffic.” (To be Referred to the Department of Public Infrastructure and the Traffic Commission.)

8. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the Department of Public Infrastructure take immediate action at PACE Headstart/Mary Barros School, located at the southeast corner of Purchase Street and Madison Street, and make immediate repairs to the crack and sinking sidewalk that has a fire hydrant and gas lines on it, this building houses preschool children and faculty, and this is a dangerous situation for pedestrians. (To be Referred to the Department of Public Infrastructure.)

COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, to City Council, on behalf of Jacqueline D’Guzman Carrero, 188 Hemlock Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, d/b/a PORTILLO’S TRANSPORTATION, 188 Hemlock Street, New Bedford, MA 02740, hereby submitting a copy of the Application requesting a NEW PRIVATE LIVERY LICENSE to carry passengers for hire over the streets of New Bedford. (License will expire June 30, 2023.)

10. COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, to City Council, on behalf of KARLA MEJIA ABARCA, 57 Fair Street, New Bedford, MA 02740 d/b/a KARLA MEJIA TRANSPORTATION, 57 Fair Street, New Bedford, MA  02740, hereby submitting a copy of the Application requesting a NEW PRIVATE LIVERY LICENSE to carry passengers for hire over the streets of New Bedford. 11. COMMUNICATION/DEMOLITION, Anne Louro, Preservation Planner, to City Council, re: BUILDING DEMOLITION REVIEW: – 35 AGAWAM STREET, (MAP 127, LOT 199) a circa pre-1911 wood-frame barn structure, advising that “structure is not located in a National Register Historic District; the structure is of no notable historic significance either recorded or found with the existing condition of the structure; the structure is in poor condition due to extensive deferred maintenance “in light of these findings, the Preservation Planner has determined that the barn structure at 35 Agawam Street is neither a Historically Significant nor a Preferably Preserved Structure.” 

12. COMMUNICATION, Manuel DeBrito, Board of Election Commissioners, to City Council, submitting the Special Municipal Primary Election Warrant for Ward Three on TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2023 for the warrant needs to be signed by the majority of the City Council and must be posted on the 7th day prior to the Election date as mandated by M.G.L. c43, §44A, a copy of this warrant will be posted at each Ward Three polling location.

13. COMMUNICATION, City Clerk/Clerk of the City Council, to City Council, submitting a request from Michael A. Kehoe, Partridge Snow and Hahn LLP, on behalf of Parallel Products Solar Energy LLC to Rezone 229-241 Coffin Avenue (City Assessors Map 104, Lot 43) the old Sunbeam Bakery Building, from Industrial “A” and Mixed-Use Business to Industrial “A”.
