SPECIAL MEETING
1.     COMMUNICATION, Council President Morad, to City/Clerk of the City Council Dennis W. Farias, calling a SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL for THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, SECOND FLOOR OF CITY HALL, for the celebration and awarding of official City Council Citations and Resolutions.
2.     CITATION, Councillors Dunn and Gomes, honoring SERGEANT MICHAEL CASSIDY, New Bedford Police Department, in recognition of his commitment to the City of New Bedford and its citizens, when off duty he performed life saving measures on a Market Basket employee and saved her life.
3.     CITATIONS, Councillor Dunn, honoring CAPTAIN BRIAN MEDEIROS, FIREFIGHTER JASON BEAULIEU, New Bedford Fire Department and Director of Leash Law, EMANUEL MACIEL, in recognition of their contribution to the Southeastern Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team in assisting the victims of Hurricane Florence.
4.     CITATIONS, Councillor Lopes, honoring AIDEN SMITH, ILLIAM SANTIAGO, LOUIE FREITAS, ADRIAN CRUZ, NIKKO MORRIS, DYLAN LEUNG, DANNY ROCHA, JORDAN ROMAN, CHRISTIAN DAROSA, NICK ARSENAULT, JR., MASON SOUZA, ASSANTE AURORA, Players and RYAN SMITH, Manager, DANA CONNOR, LOU FREITAS, CHRIS MORRIS and JOHN TABARES, Coaches, SEYAA Team Farland Corp., in recognition of their winning the Little League Baseball City Championship – 2018.

5.     CITATION, Councillors Lima, Gomes and Council President Morad, honoring the KENNEDY-DONOVAN CENTER, in recognition of their Special Education School Open House that was held on May 11, 2018.

6.     CITATION, Councillor Gomes, Council President Morad, Councillors Lopes, Coelho, Carney and Giesta, honoring JAMES G. DEMELLO, in recognition of his being selected as the Prince Henry Society Man of the Year – 2018.
7.     CITATION, Councillor Rebeiro, honoring REVEREND APOSTLE CORDELL A. POLK, United House of Prayer for All People, in recognition of his twenty years as a dedicated community leader and with appreciation for his spiritual guidance.
8.     CITATION, Councillor Rebeiro, honoring NATHAN MONTEIRO, MASSACHUSETTS STATE TROOPER, in recognition of his bravery, professionalism and care as a State Trooper and his commitment to improving the City through his volunteerism.  
9.     CITATION, Councillor Gomes, honoring KIM CAMARA, Yester Year Cyclery, in recognition of his thoughtfulness and kind heart in donating a bicycle to Michael Bessette, in Kim’s own words “smiles are worth more than dollars”.
10.     CITATION, Councillor Gomes, honoring LIBBY DAVENPORT, Founder, in recognition of her 15 years of commitment and dedication to the St. Martin's Episcopal Church Food Bank.
11.     CITATIONS, Councillor Gomes, honoring BOB SANTOS, LOIS AYOTTE, PHYLLIS SANTOS, JOAN INDIO, PAT CORREIA, JANICE LATHAM, BRUCE GONSALVES, RANCE GILLESPIE, DEIRDRE GILLESPIE, AZALEA GILLESPIE, CHLOE GILLESPIE and TAMMY RAPOSO, in recognition of their contributions to the St. Martin’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry.  
12.     CITATIONS, Councillor Dunn and Council President Morad, honoring MARGARET MACRAMOS, PAYTON PROMISE BOUSQUET and PHOENIX OLIVIER,  GIRL SCOUTS OF AMERICA - Troop 68111, in recognition of their winning the Bronze Award for their public service campaign promoting self-esteem and healthy living for pre-teens.
13.     RESOLUTION, Councillor Carney, honoring CHRISTOPHER AZEVEDO, US Army SPC, in recognition of his being named SOUTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS VETERAN OF THE YEAR – 2018, by the Veterans Transition House and for his committed service to his fellow Veterans.
14.     RESOLUTION, Councillors Lima and Abreu, honoring DR. MELVIN B. YOKEN, Chancellor Professor Emeritus of French Language and Literature and Director of the Boiven Center for French Language and Culture, in recognition of his being awarded the French Legion of Honor. 15.     RESOLUTION, Councillor Lima, Council President Morad and Councillor Gomes, honoring CECILIA FELIX, Principal of Holy Family Holy Name School on the occasion of her retirement. (Adopted, to be presented at a later date.)
16.     RESOLUTION, Council President Morad, honoring the NEW BEDFORD FESTIVAL THEATRE, on the occasion of their thirtieth anniversary. (Adopted, to be presented at a later date.)
