1. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Abreu, Council President Lopes, Councillors Dunn, Coelho and Winterson, requesting that the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods, Police Chief Cordeiro, and the Administration discuss the feasibility of implementing an online police reporting system for our residents and visitors to use as a means to report non-violent crimes, as such, the Cities of Providence and Cranston, Rhode Island have both launched this service this past year, and have claimed to have reduced officer response time by about 10 to 30 percent, and will provide online access to citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, that the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods, meet with a Representative from the Mayor’s Office, Police Chief Cordeiro, the Community Development Director Patrick Sullivan, the President of Neighborhoods United, Scott Downing, Executive Secretary, Traffic Commission, and Chairs from neighborhood crime watch groups from across the City, for the purposes of discussing the creation of new neighborhood crime watch signs; these new signs will be placed in all present areas that have crime watch groups and awarded to new neighborhood crime watch groups that organize and participate in making their neighborhoods safer across the City. 3. WRITTEN MOTION, Council President Morad, requesting that the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods invite Election Commission Chairperson Manuel DeBrito to the next meeting to discuss consolidation of polling locations across the City in an effort to find places that are safe for residents to access, accessible to those residents with disabilities, have ample off-street parking during voting hours and are comfortable for the Wardens and poll workers that are working on behalf of the City to ensure a fair election process. 4. RELATED MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting that Mayor Mitchell and DPI Commissioner Ponte provide the City Council with the cost of installing cobblestone architecture at all major intersections with median strips throughout the City, such as the one that has been installed at the Octopus on Route 6 entering New Bedford from Fairhaven; and further, that the City work together with the State for permission to install cobblestone architecture median strips at some of the major State intersections, such as Rt. 195 and Rt. 140 that intervene with City intersections; and further, that the City consider masonry concrete planter boxes with diamond or triangle top edging to be placed at these intersections with non-maintenance annual green perennials keeping the intersections attractive and welcoming to tourist and City residents; and further, that the City consider Community Development Block Grant monies or Community Preservation funds for the project if needed. 5. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting, once more, that any new construction and/or reconstruction of traffic lights installed at main intersections throughout the City be equipped with surveillance and traffic control cameras, this is to include any major road work presently getting started or being worked on throughout the City, projects like Phase II of Route 18 and the Coggeshall Street reconstruction; and further, this should be added to the cost of completing the project. Chair Suggests 'No Further Action' and 'Report Out to the Full City Council'

6. WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Gomes and Lopes, requesting, that the decision to prohibit the carrying of service weapons from all Shellfish Wardens Waterfront Patrols be reconsidered, that with proper training and licensing, that all Shellfish Wardens be allowed to carry a service weapon while on the job, which has been the policy for the last four years with no incidences, the Shellfish Warden’s job requires them to be out in the Harbor alone patrolling at all hours of the day and night enforcing shellfish and fishing laws and dealing with all kinds of situations of enforcement, the times have changed along the Waterfront; and further requesting that their right to carry service weapons be reinstalled immediately, to guarantee their safety and the safety of others.
