NEW BUSINESS
2.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Dunn, requesting that MassDOT, the Traffic Commission, and the Department of Public Infrastructure be invited to a meeting of the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods to discuss stoplight(s) and other measures to improve safety and reduce speeding on Hathaway Road.

3.     WRITTEN MOTION, Council President Morad requesting that the Traffic Commission authorize the installation of two crosswalks on Acushnet Avenue, at the intersection of Monmouth Street and Acushnet Avenue and at the intersection of Maplewood Street and Acushnet Avenue; said crosswalks will be constructed by the Department of Public Infrastructure per the Traffic Code and will include handicap access ramps and appropriate crosswalk signage.  (To be Referred to the Traffic Commission and the Department of Public Infrastructure.)


4.     WRITTEN MOTION,  Councillors Gomes, Abreu, Lima and Council President Morad, requesting, that the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods meet with representatives of CleanSlate Addiction Treatment Center located at 92 Grape Street and their Legal Counsel Attorney Russell G. Whynacht to discuss the proposed outpatient services proposed at a former doctor’s office located at 52-54 Brigham Street; and further requesting that the residents of the area, and those that signed a petition of opposition at the meeting that was held on Saturday, October 5th at the Lawler Library also be invited for informational purposes to the committee meeting to find out how this type of facility will affect the immediate neighborhood and the surrounding residential area. (To be Referred to the Committee on Public Safety and Neighborhoods.)


TABLED BUSINESS

01/10/2019 WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, requesting that the City Council forward a letter of request to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Cannabis Commission as to whether the City is following State Law regarding marijuana establishments in the City; and further, enclosed in the letter, please include a copy of the 11-page “Screening Form/Application for a Marijuana Establishment Host Community Agreement”, and a copy of the City’s zoning map that has been put forth by the Mayor’s Review Committee, comprised of the City Solicitor, the City Planner, the Chief of Police, the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Inspectional Services, the Director of Planning, Housing and Community Development and the City’s Health Director; asking that the Cannabis Control Commission review the application and the zoning map and report back to the City Council as to whether this Application process and zoning map applies to the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Cannabis Control Commission; and further, that Steven Hoffman, Chairman of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission or a representative, meet with the Special Committee on Licensing and Zoning for Cannabis to discuss whether the City has followed Massachusetts Laws and policies regarding marijuana establishments in the City of  New Bedford.
