PUBLIC HEARING on a COMMUNICATION, Mayor Mitchell, to City Council, submitting at the request of the City Planning Department and the New Bedford Redevelopment Authority, TWO (2) ORDERS AND AN ORDINANCE, requesting approval of the New Bedford Waterfront Redevelopment Plan: Focus Area North and the New Bedford Waterfront Redevelopment Plan; Focus Area South, which can be found at https://www.newbedford-ma.gov/planning/strategic-plans-initiatives/, along with financial plans for these areas and amendments to current zoning, also requesting, that the City Council hold a Public Hearing on the New Bedford Waterfront Redevelopment Plan; Focus Area North and the New Bedford Waterfront Redevelopment Plan; Focus Area South, as required by Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 121B, Section 48. COMMUNICATION, Kirsten Bryan, Deputy Director of City Planning, to Councillor Hugh Dunn, Chairman, Committee on Ordinances, advising that the Planning Board held a public hearing on October 7, 2020 to discuss the proposed request for amending the City of New Bedford Zoning By-laws, Chapter 9, to include a new Waterfront Mixed Use District (WMU); the Planning Board voted to send a FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION, recommending that the City Council approve the request for amending the City of New Bedford Zoning By-laws, Chapter 9, to include a new Waterfront Mixed Use District.
