30.     LOAN ORDER, Appropriating $57,000,000,00 to finance the costs of the projects outlined in the City’s Long Term CSO Control and Integrated Capital Improvement Plan, including capital planning, wastewater treatment plant improvements, wastewater collection system improvements, pumping station improvements, wastewater collection system investigations, and CSO abatement and general improvements. 31.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Baptiste and Morad, requesting, on behalf of the neighbors, that the Traffic Commission install an all way stop sign at the intersection of North Street and Hill Street, as a result of numerous serious accidents at this intersection over the past five years. (To be Referred to the Traffic Commission.)

33.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillors Giesta, Carney, Abreu and Council President Lopes, requesting that the DFFM Commissioner Champagne, DPI Commissioner Ponte, Police Chief Oliveira, a Representative of the Mayor’s Office, a Representative of the Mayor’s Neighborhood Task Force and Andrew O'Leary, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations, come before the Committee on Ordinances to discuss the enforcement of the current litter Ordinance or possible amendments to said Ordinance and the responsibility of residents and visitors to keep this City clean.

34.     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Giesta, requesting that the Traffic Commission approve temporary speed tables along Riverside Avenue, due to speeding vehicles that have caused fear among residents at Whaler’s Cove Assisted Living, Whaler’s Place Apartments and Manomet Place.

38.     COMMUNICATION, Board of Assessors, to City Council, submitting a MOTION passed 3-0 at its Open Meeting on September 30, 2021, and requesting that the City Council ADOPT, and the Mayor APPROVE the THREE ORDERS relating to the annual Consumer Price Index, as determined by the Commissioner of Revenue of a 1.4%  increase for Clause 17 for the amount of the exemption to be $335.00, to accept under Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 17E to increase the amount of assets to $68,322.00 to qualifying individuals, and under Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 41, 41B, and 41C, raising the base limit of income for single taxpayers to $22,204.00 and married taxpayers to $25,623.00 and to raise the assets limits to $47,826.00 for single taxpayers, and $51,242.00 for married taxpayers.

 

38a.     AN ORDER, ORDERED, That pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 17E, the total value of assets, as set forth in M.G.L. Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 17, 17C, 17C ½ and 17D, is hereby increased by 1.4% for Fiscal Year 2022. Said increase is equal to the Consumer Price Index.  

 

38b.     AN ORDER, ORDERED, That the exemption granted to persons qualifying under M.G.L. Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 17, 17C, 17C ½ and 17D, is hereby increased by 1.4% for Fiscal Year 2022. Said increase is equal to the Consumer Price Index.        

 

38c.     AN ORDER, ORDERED, That the base limit of income and the total value of assets of persons qualifying under M.G.L. Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 41, 41B and 41C, is hereby increased by 1.4% for Fiscal Year 2022. Said increase is equal to the Consumer Price Index.

04/22/2021     WRITTEN MOTION, Councillor Gomes, Council President Lopes, Councillors Markey and Carney requesting, that the City Council go on record in opposition and condemnation of the Boston Globe’s article along with the report done by Citizens For Juvenile Justice, titled, “We Are The Prey”; and further, that the New Bedford City Council also go on record in support of the men and women of the New Bedford Police Department as this report was not fairly done, and does not fit the image, the profile and the mission of our law-enforcement in the City, this report condemned our Police Department for racial profiling of minority groups of juveniles; and further, that the department continues to enforce law and order and justice for all Citizens of the City of New Bedford; and further, that Acting Police Chief Paul Oliveira reassure the people of the City that his leadership and New Bedford Police Department will mirror an image and commitment that all Citizens of the City of New Bedford will be treated fairly with no bias, only law and order and protection of all City residents.
